The Village, six times over

Endurance is unusual among sports: the field leaves, and then it comes back. At Butheeb it comes back six times. Each return brings the arrival line, the crews working the horses down in the cooling area, the presentation to the vets, and then the departure onto the next loop. The final return is the finish.

The spectator zones around the vet gate area, the finish and the arena are marked on the site plan, published before championship week. Public areas of the Village have Wi-Fi, refreshment stations and first-aid points.

Out on the course, crewing is allowed only at the designated water points marked on each loop and in the crewing area at the Village. The water points are working areas for the teams, not spectator zones, and crewing anywhere else means disqualification.
